The news article named ‘US investigates Google tax strategies’ was published on The Guardian. This article depicted that the US tax authorities were investigating the strategies used by Google to cut its tax bill by about $1bn a year by funneling profits from the US and Europe to subsidiaries with low tax rates. We all know that as a search engine giant, it is inevitable for Google to be examined by government since it is an indispensable method of income for the treasury, especially after the well-known three acquisitions including its purchase of YouTube in 2006.
The third paragraph used quotes to illustrate Google’s unit in Europe, however, the author did not give clear indication of the provenience of the source, which made the news not credible as well as accuracy. And the same problem happened again in the sixth paragraph, in which a quote from Google’s employee was utilized to describe there was nothing unusual about the audit.
In the following paragraph, the author had provided some statistics about the revenue of Google in different units in Europe, which makes the content of this news well-organized as well as legible. What’s more, the writer also introduced the operating method of Google in administrating its foreign subsidiaries, which enhances the readability as well as integrality.
In the end of the news, a quote was utilized as a conclusion of it, which makes the news a little bit subjective. Moreover, this interviewee was an anonymity, which made the news unauthentic again. However, the content of the quote reasserts the theme of this news effectively, which reinforces the integrality of this news.

  1. Google is getting so powerful these days, it is not surprising that it is a prime candidate for a tax audit. While it is not shocking that a company would be searching for ways to cut down its tax bills, it does come as a surprise for Google which has been branding itself as a caring company that contributes to the community.

Additionally, I found that almost your articles picked up from the Guardian. I used to read fewer articles from there, but now I start to read.
Google has been playing a vital role in the Internet market. It has a high profit. It would be good for their brand to contribute to the public.
